Wednesday, August 1st · Doors 8:00pm/Show 8:30pm · $8
at Union Hall (702 Union St, Brooklyn, NY 11215)

On August 1, 1981, something happened to cable television - something that would define pop culture, change generations, and shape an industry. That something had a name. The name was MTV.

However, the MTV of the 80’s was nothing like the MTV we see today. Did MTV of the 80’s have “Jersey Shore?” Hell no. But it did have tons of music videos, awesome VJ’s and music news unavailable anywhere else. On August 1, 2012, to thank them for making music videos a part of our lives, we’re honoring them on their 31st birthday with an 80’s Sing-Along!

Let Secret Formula be your VJ as we take you on a Sing-Along journey through the best of the best 80’s music videos that MTV aired all with the words on screen so you can sing along! Featuring videos from Journey, Cyndi Lauper, Pat Benatar, Rockwell, A-Ha, Dire Straits, Paula Abdul, Michael Jackson, Tears For Fears, Madonna, Guns N’ Roses, Duran Duran, Eurythmics, Bon Jovi, Talking Heads, Rick Astley, Bonnie Tyler, The Buggles and lots more 80’s hits for you to sing along and dance to all night long!

-Wear your best 80’s clothes for the costume contest!

-Enjoy tasty 80’s themed cocktails including the Rick Roll, Safety Dance, Pretty in Pink and more!

Come and celebrate MTV’s birthday with us!

A Country Music and Movie Jubilee

Friday, June 22nd at 10:30pm
at Nitehawk Cinema (136 Metropolitan Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11211)

featuring: Urban Cowboy screening, live country music, mechanical bull riding and more…

10:30pm - Party, 12:00am - Urban Cowboy screening followed by mechanical bull riding post-screening at Viva Toro!

We love a good ole honky-tonk celebration, and with John Travolta (or as the local papers are calling him, John “Revolta”) in the headlines, we figure there’s no better way to launch our new country music and film series than with an Urban Cowboy-themed party. Includes…

- Live music by the Gentlemen Callers (60s-era country classics, mariachi numbers, and story telling), starring fiddle master, Alex Marcus (formerly of Hank III)
- Urban Cowboy screening
- Special menu items like chicken-fried steak, Texas-style queso, and Lone Star Beer
- Country themed movie trivia quiz
- Live comedy from Johnny McNulty (Urban Cowboy doesn’t stand a chance!)
- Best Western Wear contest
- AND…Mechanical Bull riding! After the movie we’re gonna mosey over to Viva Toro, just a block away, and have our own contest, Urban Cowboy style.
- And just maybe if you’re lucky, you’ll get a good ole massage, in honor of John Travolta!
